10YEAR WORKMANSHIP GUARANTEE

Written, transferable, no small print.

If any part of our workmanship fails within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it. Labour, materials, scaffold, making-good โ€” all of it, at no cost to you.

Newly completed Welsh slate roof with terracotta ridge
Natural Welsh slate โ€” up to 100 years manufacturer warranty.
New guttering, fascia and soffit installation
Full guttering systems carry 10-year workmanship cover.
Restored Victorian slate with red ridge tiles
Slate and ridge work โ€” covered fully under our guarantee.

What our workmanship guarantee covers

Our 10-year workmanship guarantee applies to larger works โ€” full re-roofs, flat roof replacement, full chimney repointing, full guttering and fascia systems, full leadwork replacement, dry-ridge retrofit, and commercial installations.

If any part of our workmanship fails within the guarantee period โ€” meaning a fault in how we fitted or installed the roof โ€” we come back and fix it at no charge. That includes labour, materials, scaffold access, and any associated making-good. No arguments. No "out of scope" get-out clauses. No call-out fees.

Smaller repair jobs (e.g. replacing a handful of slipped slates, re-bedding a few ridge tiles, clearing and minor repair of gutters) carry a 12-month workmanship warranty on the specific work carried out.

What the guarantee covers

What the guarantee doesn't cover

The workmanship guarantee is specifically about how we did the work, not about the materials themselves (those are covered separately by the manufacturers) and not about things outside our control. So it doesn't cover:

How to claim

If you think something we've done needs looking at under the guarantee, ring us or email and describe what's happening. We'll arrange to visit โ€” usually within a week, faster if water is getting in โ€” inspect the work, and if it's a workmanship issue, book it in for repair. Emergency remedial visits are treated as emergencies: same day where possible.

Is the guarantee transferable?

Yes. If you sell the property within the guarantee period, the remaining cover transfers to the new owner at no cost โ€” just let us know at the point of sale so we can update our records. We've done remedial visits on several houses where the current owner wasn't the original client, and it's never been an issue.

Manufacturer warranties

Separately from our workmanship guarantee, the materials we fit come with manufacturer warranties. These are between you and the manufacturer โ€” we pass the paperwork over at completion. Typical cover:

Pitched roofing materials

Flat roofing systems

Manufacturer warranties typically cover the material itself โ€” i.e. if it fails in a way that's a manufacturing defect rather than a fitting error. For that reason, most clients find the workmanship guarantee is what actually gets used if anything ever needs attention, because modern roofing materials are very reliable when they're fitted right.

How manufacturer warranties actually work

Manufacturer warranties are structured as product-only cover. If, say, a Firestone EPDM membrane splits within the 20-year warranty period because of a material defect, Firestone will supply replacement membrane. What they won't supply is the labour to fit it, the scaffold to access it, or the removal of the failed product. That's where our workmanship guarantee becomes valuable โ€” it covers all of that when the cause is our installation rather than the material itself.

For commercial clients and management companies, we can arrange full systems warranties on request, typically through Firestone RedShield, Sika Sarnafil, or IKO. These are insurance-backed, cover both product and installation, and run for 20 to 25 years. They cost extra at point of installation (typically 3โ€“5% on top of the project cost) but remove any residual risk from the client. We're happy to quote both options on larger jobs so you can see the cost implication.

What we ask of our clients

A guarantee is a two-way contract. We commit to fixing any workmanship failure for the stated period; in return, we ask a few small things of our clients:

None of these are surprising, and none have ever caused a problem with a client acting in good faith. We mention them mainly for completeness โ€” we'd rather set clear expectations than rely on assumptions.
